The Settlement of Iceland


Centre for Medieval Studies Lecture Series 2014–2015

The theme for the Centre for Medieval Studies lecture series this upcoming academic year will be the settlement of Iceland. Scholars from different fields will examine the settlement from different perspectives, including archeology, history, literary studies, linguistics, onomastics, memory studies, and folklore.

The lectures will take place in room 101 in Oddi at 16.30 on Thursdays, usually two lectures at a time. The program will start with Prof. Gunnar Karlsson’s introductory lecture on the settlement on Thursday September 25. The lecture series will then be concluded with a summary and a panel discussion on Thursday May 28.
